AC/DC Guitarist Clears Up Knife Incident With BLACK SABBATH

Launch reports that AC/DC have come clean about a knife-pulling incident during the group's 1977 tour opening for BLACK SABBATH in Europe. In the "Cash For Questions" fan feature in the new edition of the British music magazine Q, AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young confirmed that SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler did pull a knife on his opening act.

Young's version of the story: "We were staying in the same hotel, and Geezer was in the bar, crying in his bear, '10 years I've been in this band, 10 years — wait till you guys have been around 10 years, you'll feel like us.' I said 'I don't think so.' I was giving him no sympathy. He'd had many too many [drinks] and he pulled out this silly flick knife."

Young added that it was SABBATH frontman Ozzy Osbourne who diffused the situation. "As luck would have it, Ozzy walked in," Young said. "He goes, 'You fuckin' idiot, Butler — go to bed!' Ozzy saved the day, and we sat up all night with him."

As previously reported, AC/DC's "Live At Donington" concert video, originally issued on VHS in 1992, will receive its long-awaited DVD release through Epic on November 11. A two-hour DVD chronicling an Aug. 17, 1991, show at the famed outdoor U.K. venue, "Live At Donington" will be packaged in a deluxe digi-pack with a 12-page color booklet.

The DVD will be packed with extra features, including a director's cut by original filmmaker David Mallet, a remastered stereo audio track and 5.1 Surround mix, and the option to view several songs with a close-up view of guitarist Angus Young.
